Thisted Heat Supply

FLUE GAS CONDENSATION AND GEOTHERMAL

In 2016 Thisted Varmeforsyning took delivery of a new 3.7 MW hot water driven heat pump for flue gas condensation. The heat pump cools flue gases from the boiler down to around 24°C and delivers the energy to the absorber and condenser side by heating district heating water from 42°C up to 74°C. The driving energy is hot water at around 150°C is directed to the heat pump generator and also contributes to heating the district heating water.

This project is one in a series of successful projects with Thisted Varmeværk, which was SEG's first customer back in 1998. The first heat pump was a Sanyo (3.2 MW), followed by a Thermax heat pump (4.7 MW) in 2000 and this last Thermax heat pump (3.7 MW) in 2016. All heat pumps are still in operation and are part of the geothermal plant in Thisted.
